Incorporating New Arrivals into Salon Services: By Erin Snyder Dixon
Like you, I can’t wait to get new retail products. We can’t get them displayed fast enough.
As soon as I get new goodies in my hands, I’m trying to think of ways to incorporate them into salon services. Hey, what better way to get people to try a product than to endorse it by using it in a service? I offer some of these services for a limited time, while others become part of the permanent salon service menu.
Such was the case when the Warm Vanilla Bergamot Nurture Lotion arrived. When I opened the bottle to steal a whiff, I was surrounded by the comforting aroma of vanilla. It was soft and smooth. Notes of bergamot wafted to calm the senses.
Bergamot is probably best known for its uplifting properties in Earl Grey Tea. Bergamot has been used through the ages, in aromatherapy, as an alternative treatment for mild depression. Vanilla, though wildly popular, is the second most expensive spice after saffron and gives the lotion its rich scent base. The exotic and protective scent and luxurious moisture of Nurture Lotion in the Warm Vanilla Bergamot made this a no-brainer for spa style services.
Immediately, I knew it would be perfect to build a new manicure around. And so, the “Nurture My Hands Manicure,” was born in the salon. The manicure is started with a light exfoliation using a few pumps of Nurture Lotion in the Warm Vanilla Bergamot scent mixed with a spoonful of raw natural sugar. The skin is polished up beautifully. Wipe the excess with a fluffy towel and apply more Nurture Lotion before dipping the hands in paraffin.
When the paraffin is removed, the client enjoys a fabulous massage, the cuticles are treated with Vanish Cuticle Dissolve, the nails are cared for, cleaned with Nailpure Plus to remove any residue, and choice of color or enhancement is applied.
Truth is, this service could be built as an add-on for enhancement clients. A “Nurture My Hands Moisture Treatment” could be enjoyed by clients before any enhancement service. It’s simple to set up and so far…the clients love it. The grape seed oil and jojoba make Nurture Lotion the perfect answer for summer-sun, parched skin in the upcoming months.
