Buh-Bye 2009: By Rise’ Carter
Every couple of weeks, our Director of Marketing & Communications says to me “It’s time for another blog entry.” I sometimes draw a blank and truly don’t know what to write about that would be of interest to someone visiting the website.
Today, I know I just want to say what is in my heart.
I have thought back over this entire year. The first several months of 2009, the world was almost standing still. People were clinging to their jobs, their money and their families concerned, worried and afraid of what was going to happen next. It’s the kind of feeling that just leaves a raw empty pit in your stomach.
Little by little, throughout the following months, I saw spirits renewed and refreshed. I cannot help to be reminded of the unwavering spirit of nail professionals around the world. I am always amazed that we are all so very different in our appearance and our culture, yet we all share the same concerns and frustrations. What is most important is that we are connected by the same passion and love for this business; this nail industry that continually draws and binds us together.
I often lose sight of what I am grateful for in these challenging and difficult times. It is a given that my family and friends are paramount in my world. But, I am grateful to the distributors and educators, who continued to have faith, and the NSI family (especially Fred and Rick Slack) for allowing me the opportunity to continue to share and learn from the many gifted and talented people that surround me everyday.
I’m most grateful to you, the technicians that I have had an opportunity to meet throughout the world. I am blessed to have had the chance to spend time with you. It is you who have given me energy and have touched my heart in a very special way.
THANK YOU!
Now, onward and upward in 2010!
