You may have already heard about the new “refreshing” fish pedicures where feet are placed in pedicure bowls full of skin-eating fish. I couldn’t help thinking about being a young kid and seeing a news piece on TV about maggots and leeches used for medicinal purposes, so I guess it shouldn’t have surprised me that fish are being used to remove the dead skin from the bottom of the feet.

We know how important it is to take care of our health. If we get sick, we miss work and miss income. It drains our pocketbook when we have to pay for medicine and doctor’s visits. Nothing new there. I recently read an article where a nail salon in the Baltimore area was using an electric unit to warm Acetone. A woman who was having her enhancements removed to have a fresh new applied got severely burned on her face, hands, stomach and legs when the Acetone she was soaking her nails in ignited. I recently returned from conducting a seminar on the Balance UV Gel System and Attraction Acrylic System for 91 nail technicians and salon owners. The seminar was held in Malta, a tiny little island country smack dab in the middle of the Mediterranean.

I see these terms all the time, so much so, that I don’t even pay attention to them anymore. My mind just goes into la la land. Organic and all natural are the most over used terms in our society.
I checked numerous definitions and learned the following:
Organic, as typically advertised, means that a product is produced without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers or synthetic chemicals and is applicable to food and other agricultural products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program allows companies to label cosmetics as organic if they meet the same criteria governing its organic certification of food. The FDA and USDA do have regulations on labeling agricultural products as ‘organic’.
