The NSI Goat Helps Women in Need
Nail Systems of Sweden Makes a Donation to the Swedish Goat Bank on Behalf of NSI
UDDEVALLA, Sweden (2/29/2008) – Last November, Reni Mobrant, Owner of Nail Systems made a donation on behalf of NSI to the Swedish Goat Bank, an active culture-project initiated to improve the lives of women in Uganda.
With the theme “How can we, ourselves, improve our standard of living in the future”, this project provides pregnant goats to women who care for them as a means of economic advancement (goats are a common source of nourishment in Uganda, as cattle are in other parts of the world.) The program started in the Bishozi Village, and in order to participate in the Swedish Goat Bank program, the women must agree to study every Saturday. Currently, 200 women are attending the adult school.
The NSI goat, affectionately named “Rick” after NSI President, Rick Slack, will now be a part of eradicating poverty and illiteracy for women in Uganda. “As a company whose industry is primarily made up of women, NSI is proud to support programs around the world that encourage women to educate themselves and take action in improving their lives.”
Based on the success of the Swedish Goat Bank, many other programs in the same Bishozi Village have began, including the Hen Project, which supplies three hens to children so that their eggs can be sold to cover school expenses, and the Matafari Brick Company, where you can purchase hand made bricks, made by the Bishozi women, that will be used to create a new Culture Center.
