Effective Communications - Part 2

Here is an example of a detailed Guest Profile.

When the client arrives, greet her by name and with a smile.  Ask her to fill out a Guest Profile.  This is kept on record and should be updated periodically, as her situation may change.  Feel free to use this example in your own salon:

Guest Profile - Example
When the nail tech is ready, salon personnel should lead her to the nail suite and introduce her to the tech.  Stay close to the client at all times as some salons are big and the client can loose her way.  A first time client may feel a little anxious about where she is going, who is doing her nails, if she is going to like the service, and if she will get out on time.

Remember, guests will rebook an appointment because the following:

1. They like the overall feel and experience of the salon.
2. The like the quality of the service provided.
3. They like the personality of the professional.

Nail Professional Contact

Now is the time for the nail technician to personally “consult” with the guest.  Sanitize both of your hands with Sani-Pure Spray.  Explain to the guest what you are doing and inform her that you follow strict sanitation and disinfections practices for HER safety.

Examine her nails and hands and discuss with her the following three key points:
1. Her lifestyle and activity level.
2. Her natural nail condition, shape and skin type.
3. Her enhancement or natural nail service preference.

This is done through a conversation with a series of questions to pinpoint her needs and desires, utilizing her guest profile and making notes.

Professional Advice

It is time to make your professional recommendation on the type of service, which product you will be using, and the overall design.

Service types to consider are:
• Sculpted enhancement on a form.
• Tips with overlay.
• Natural nail overlay.
• Natural nail care.

Product types to consider are:
• Acrylic (Attraction, Universal or Spa).
• Gels (Balance).
• Soak-Off Gels (Illusion).
• Other products for a natural nail manicure.

Design types to consider are:
• Overall shape (square, oval, almond or squoval).
• Overall length (short and active, medium length or long)

Ongoing Communication

Always be aware of any changes in your clients and be flexible to reassess her overall needs and desires in regards to her services.

Communicate and educate her on her nail and skin conditions, being careful not to offer treatment advice but instead offer her suggestions.  Keep your information fact based and not swayed by personal opinion.

Recommend professional nail care products to be used at home.

Rebook her next visit prior to her leaving the salon.  This will assure her nail care success.

Don’t be afraid to ask her for referrals.
